Synopsis:
The story begins when the Taoist priest Cui accidentally releases a mystical Golden Toad while attempting to read a forbidden Heavenly Book. The Golden Toad, captivated by the riches and prosperity of the human world, decides to reincarnate as a human being named Dou Zhanlong.
To escape the inevitable Heavenly Tribulation (divine punishment), the Golden Toad performs a desperate act: it tears apart its own three souls and seven spirits within Dou Zhanlong’s spiritual cavity. This act creates nine clones of Dou Zhanlong, which are scattered across nine different locations.
These nine clones exist in different parallel dimensions of time and space. Every time one of them dies, a new clone is born. They are destined to experience a total cycle of "Nine deaths and thirteen disasters" before the original soul can truly reunite.
Our story begins by following the life of the very first Dou Zhanlong as he navigates this chaotic, parallel world.
Background:
This story is adapted from the famous novel "Dou Zhanlong Bie Bao: Jiu Si Shi San Zai" written by the legendary Chinese author Tianxia Ba Chang (天下霸唱), who is also famous for creating the Ghost Blows Out the Light series. The animation is released by iQIYI.
